Football: Carr, Krolcyzak top all-district team

Top area high school football players were recognized with the recent announcement of the All-Distirct 14-5A Team.

Junior running back Patrick Carr and senior defensive end Zak Krolcyzk earned Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors respectively. The pair helped lead The Woodlands High School football team to a perfect 6-0 league mark and a fifth district championship in six years.

Carr rushed for 1,577 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. In addition, Highlanders head coach Mark Schmid was named Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 10-3 overall record and a 19th consecutive playoff appearance. The Woodlands advanced to the regional round of the postseason before falling, 56-21, to No. 1 state-ranked Allen High School, which goes for its second consecutive state title on Saturday. click here for complete story
