Kingwood woman sentenced to 13 years for drunk driving accident that killed UNT student

Alexia Ardeleanu’s legacy lives on through the lives of friends, family and a scholarship that bears her name at the University of North Texas.

Alexia’s life was cut short on June 15, 2014 when Brittney Hempel of Kingwood crashed into three cars, one of them Alexia’s, waiting for the light to turn green at the intersection of FM 1960 and Farrell Road.

Hempel appeared in court March 3, 2015 where she pleaded guilty to felony intoxication manslaughter and was sentenced to 13 years.

Alexia, a 2011 graduate of Kingwood High School, was a senior with honors in the School of Business at UNT and was serving as the president of the Professional Leadership Program at UNT. click here for complete story
