Volleyball: Oak Ridge earns first trip to state in 16 years by defeating rival The Woodlands

There are very few guarantees in life.

But with The Woodlands matched up with Oak Ridge in the UIL Region II-6A championship at Sam Houston State University’s Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum, one of the Conroe ISD rivals was going to fulfill a dream that began months ago.

Meeting for the fifth time this season, Oak Ridge started slow in all three sets Saturday evening with The Woodlands. But the Lady War Eagles turned up the heat late in each set to earn the right to advance to the state tournament.

Oak Ridge was one of the final four teams remaining after its 25-17, 25-22, 25-18 sweep of the Lady Highlanders. click here for complete story
