Most of the wall space is taken up by photos — snapshots of the coaching career of the man who started the College Park football program back in 2005. Girls Soccer: College Park picks up second win; Oak Ridge plays to draw

 

With temperatures in the low 30s at the Gosling Sports Fields Friday evening, it took a while for College Park coach Meredith Cook to warm up after her team earned a resounding 3-0 victory over Cypress Creek in the Lady Highlander Invitational.

“I can finally feel my toes again,” she said with a laugh.

Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, the Lady Cavaliers were able to secure their second consecutive triumph after dropping their season opener against Cypress Ranch Thursday. Read more…

Football: The Woodlands QB Schmid is The Courier’s Player of the Year

aaaEric Schmid turned back toward the field, helmet in hand. He had just finished standing with his teammates as The Woodlands’ marching band played the school song in celebration of the Highlanders’ playoff victory over Garland Sachse – a gritty win that came down to waning minutes.

Earlier in the game, Schmid had absorbed a tough hit from one of the Mustangs’ defenders as he was diving toward the left corner of the end zone. Read more…

Father of injured The Woodlands HS player speaks on hope in the New Year

The father of a high school football player in a coma says his son is making progress.

Grant Milton, a senior at The Woodlands High School, has been in the hospital since he collapsed during a playoff game in November. “It’s just a journey. We won’t really know the extent of the injury and what his capabilities are going to be until he wakes up,” Miles Milton said. Read more…
