Theatre | Houston’s Theater District Takes Serious Hit From Harvey

The basement of the Wortham is totally flooded, a report from the Houston Theater District said Monday.

In a scene that is sure to draw even more comparisons to Tropical Storm Allison in 2001, the Houston Theater District has once again sustained a hit from ongoing flooding, this time thanks to now-Tropical Storm Harvey.

After a day of walkthroughs in each of the five Theater District venues, Theater District Houston CEO Kathryn McNiel and board chair Perryn Leech outlined the damage in a report Monday afternoon. Read more…

Opera singer from The Woodlands signs contract with company in Germany

I._Ramirez--Headshot_2 (1)Tenor Ian José Ramirez will join the international opera studio at Opera Stuttgart for the 2015-2016 season. The “opernstudio” offers the next generation of young artists the opportunity to work side by side with some of the world’s finest singers, directors, and conductors.

A native of The Woodlands, Texas, Ian was involved with Class Act Productions, The Woodlands United Methodist Church Youth Choir, The Woodlands High School Theatre and Choir, and was also a member of the Texas All-State Choir four years in a row. His love for opera began when he was accepted into and participated in the Houston Grand Opera High School Voice Studio. click here for complete story
