NCAA Women’s Golf: The Woodlands Fazio Course at Carlton Woods & Texas State women’s golf to host the 2016 Jim West Challenge Sun., Oct. 9 and Mon., Oct. 10
The tournament started at 8:30 on Sunday morning with the golfers playing 36 continuous holes for rounds one and two. The final round is slated for a shotgun start at 9:30 on Monday on The Fazio Course at Carlton Woods. The 6,137 yard course plays at a par 72 for the weekend.
The 15-team field includes 11 teams that qualified for the 2016 NCAA Championships. Joining Texas State are Florida State, Houston, Jacksonville, Kent State, Miami, Missouri, North Texas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and UTSA.
Live results will be available during tournament play at BirdieFire.com … Tournament results will be posted at TXStateBobcats.com at the conclusion of each day of competition.
The tournament concludes Monday with 18 holes beginning with an 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
College Night is one of the largest college fairs held in the Houston Metropolitan area with over 150 colleges and universities in attendance and over 4,000 participants.
Conroe ISD, along with neighboring districts, Montgomery and Willis, is sponsoring College Night at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center.
College Night provides parents and students with the opportunity to learn about college admissions, financial aid, and military opportunities as well as speak with college admissions representatives.
Freshman right-hander Luken Baker, sidelined by a muscle strain in his arm three weeks ago, won’t pitch the rest of the season. The former Oak Ridge star and 2015 Gatorade National High School Player of the Year is off to a scorching start for the No. 9 TCU Horned Frogs, who were in town this past weekend for the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park.
It was a special few days for Baker, a true freshman who chose the college route instead of turning professional after his senior year of high school. He was selected by the Houston Astros in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft last summer, but made it clear beforehand that he intended to honor his commitment to the Horned Frogs. click here for complete story
Former 2015 Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year and local Houston area native Luken Baker put on a show for his hometown fans on Saturday leading TCU past Rice 10-0. Baker who starred at nearby Oak Ridge High School, made his second career start for Texas Christian a memorable one.
