Track & Field: Area Athletes Compete at UIL 6A State Meet

Atascocita’s Jace Comick and Coach Eric Nichols celebrate Comick’s gold medal in the 100-meter dash at the UIL 6A State Track and Field Championship.

The UIL 6A Track and Field State Championships were held May 13  and 14 at Mike Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas. DeSoto High School won both the boys and girls team titles. The Atascocita boys were the top area team with a fifth place finish. The top five boys point totals were DeSoto (54), Manvel (50), Mansfield (36), Comal Canyon (28), and Atascocita (24). Football: College Park’s Carson inducted into GHFCA Hall of Honor

572ab3638a913.imageCollege Park’s Richard Carson was inducted into the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association Hall of Honor on Wednesday night at a special ceremony held at the University of Houston’s TDECU Stadium.

For Carson, who has been College Park’s athletic director and head football coach since the school opened in 2005, the news of his induction came via a phone call from the organization’s current president Shane Hallmark, the head coach at Klein High School. click here for compete story

 

Baseball: Kingwood, TWHS reach playoffs; season ends for College Park

The mixed up mess that was the bottom-half of District 16-6A became clear Saturday evening.

With The Woodlands’ 10-4 win over College Park and a 6-4 extra-innings win by Kingwood over the Highlanders later in the day, the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds were shored up. Kingwood, which was in a tie for fifth place a week ago, stakes claim in the third spot while The Woodlands takes the fourth-seed going into the bi-district round of the UIL Region II-6A Tournament this week. click here for complete story

Baseball: College Park escapes rally by Conroe, keeps season alive

Softball: Atascocita no-hits Conroe to clinch District 16-6A Championship, 10-0

Winning district championships is something seniors at Atascocita have gotten used to doing.

Having back-to-back titles under their belts heading into this season, the Lady Eagles were seeking a three-peat on Saturday and clinched the District 16-6A Championship via a 10-0 no-hit victory against Conroe. click  here for complete story
