Applications are now being accepted by graduating seniors residing in Montgomery County for the “2017 Future Lawyers Scholarship in Memoriam Ida G. Stewart” and the “2017 Future Lawyers Scholarship in Memoriam Kevin T. Shea.”
Each scholarship will award $3,000 to outstanding local high school students through The Woodlands Bar Association (WBA) scholarship program. Read more…

The UIL 6A Track and Field State Championships were held May 13 and 14 at Mike Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas. DeSoto High School won both the boys and girls team titles. The Atascocita boys were the top area team with a fifth place finish. The top five boys point totals were DeSoto (54), Manvel (50), Mansfield (36), Comal Canyon (28), and Atascocita (24). Several local athletes put up strong performances at the Region II-6A Track and Field Championships at Baylor University in Waco over the past two days, punching their tickets to the state meet in Austin.
The Woodlands girls and boys won the regional team titles, both by close margins. The Lady Highlanders scored a total of 93 points, beating out Mesquite Horn (88.5) Harker Heights (46) and Oak Ridge (32) and Rockwall (28.5) rounded out the top five. The Woodlands enjoyed a very successful 15-16 Area Meet Friday at Turner Stadium, advancing 17 individual runners and five relay teams to the Regional Meet in Waco.
