Girls Soccer: College Park picks up second win; Oak Ridge plays to draw

 

With temperatures in the low 30s at the Gosling Sports Fields Friday evening, it took a while for College Park coach Meredith Cook to warm up after her team earned a resounding 3-0 victory over Cypress Creek in the Lady Highlander Invitational.

“I can finally feel my toes again,” she said with a laugh.

Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, the Lady Cavaliers were able to secure their second consecutive triumph after dropping their season opener against Cypress Ranch Thursday. Read more…

Girls Soccer: Coomes, Rossi look to lead College Park back to the playoffs

District 16-6A kicked off league play this past week, and College Park coach Meredith Cook hopes that her two senior captains will be able to lead her team back to the playoffs.

Whenever the Lady Cavaliers find the back of the net, there is a good chance Maria Rossi and Emma Coomes touched the ball at some point during the possession. click here for complete story

After days of pleasant weather, College Park played its final match of the Lady Highlander Invitational against Katy Tompkins on a cold and overcast Saturday.

Girls Soccer: Kingwood blanks College Park

5503a340ba432.imageTo keep their hopes of winning yet another District Championship alive heading into the season finale on Friday against The Woodlands, Kingwood had to take care of College Park.

The Lady Mustangs (16-4-2, 10-1 in District 16-6A play) came out scoring a pair of first half goals off the foot of Sloane Scharold en route to a 2-0 victory on Friday at Turner Stadium. click here for complete story

College Park’s Kennedy Stirling and the Lady Cavaliers will travel to Kingwood tonight, trying to stay in the playoff picture.
College Park’s Kennedy Stirling and the Lady Cavaliers will travel to Kingwood tonight, trying to stay in the playoff picture.

The final stretch of games is coming, and now is the time for the top four teams in District 16-6A to make their push into the postseason.

For College Park, which currently sits fifth, that means a game on the road against second place Kingwood today could decide whether or not the Lady Cavaliers keeps their season alive or not. When the two teams met earlier this season at College Park (7-4-9, 3-3-4 in 16-6A) on Feb. 13, the Lady Mustangs took the game 2-1, holding the Lady Cavaliers to a sole goal in the first half. click here for complete story
