Jenny Clopton, a junior at Texas A & M University recently accomplished something no other current or former Montgomery High School Student has ever accomplished. Jenny was awarded the American Degree presented by the Future Farmers of America in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The award is given to less than one half of one percent of the over 600,000 FFA students nationwide. The award is given to students after they have graduated from high school for at least 1 year, and have continued the development of Agricultural Competencies including receiving the State Degree. During her high school years Jenny showed animals across the state of Texas as well competed on team competitions in Live Stock Judging, Radio Broadcasting and Jr. Chapter Conducting. She served as a chapter officer thru out high school years culminating as President her senior year.
Jenny’s Agricultural Adviser at Montgomery High School, John Slaughter (former American Degree Recipient) gave her tremendous support in her desire to achieve her dream. After graduation from Texas A & M University, Jenny plans to continue to pursue her Agricultural passions by being an Agricultural Science Teacher.
