Letter jackets will be folded into makeshift pillows and Gatorade bottles will be nestled into crevices so they don’t roll to the back of the bus as football teams across the state prepare for hours-long drives to Houston for the UIL state championships this week. At least for some.
While teams at Katy, North Shore and George Ranch high schools will “travel” less than 35 miles to get to NRG Stadium, at least eight of the 20 qualifying teams will drive more than 200 miles. One school from the Panhandle will travel about 600 miles one way. click here for complete story
The Woodlands swept George Ranch 25-13, 25-11, 25-8 in a non-district match on Tuesday. Senior Julia Pasch took over the court, leading with nine digs and 11 kills.
“A game is a game and we take it very seriously whether it’s district or non-district,” Pasch said. “I thought we did really well. We played at our own pace considering it was a little slower of a game.”
