Cross Country: Kingwood places second at Nike NXN South Regional

5653d2a243279.imageThe UIL Cross Country state meet two weeks back ended in disappointment for the Kingwood Lady Mustangs.

But they redeemed themselves Saturday morning at the Nike NXN South Regional Meet with spots on the line for the Nike National Championship on Dec. 5 in Portland, Ore.

With similar muddy conditions at Bear Branch Park like at Round Rock Old Settlers Park back in the state meet, the Lady Mustangs qualified for nationals as team with a second place finish while senior Abby Guidry medaled with a third place finish. click here for complete story

Cross Country: Kingwood Mustang Boys Sweep Larry Gnatzig Invitational

19157.1The Kingwood High School boys cross country team swept the varsity, junior varsity, and freshman races at the Larry Gnatzig Invitational held at the Lone Star College North Harris campus on Saturday.  In the varsity race, the Mustangs scored 31 points followed by Macarthur (50), Klein Oak (55), and five other teams.  Junior George Cyboran paced the Mustangs to the team title with a second place individual performance, covering the 5K course in 16:16.  Also scoring for the Mustangs were junior Jeremy Rich (4th, 16:22), senior Gavin Martella (7th, 16:36), freshman Carter Storm (8th, 16:42), and sophomore Eddie Barnett (10th, 16:44). click here for complete story

Cross Country: Kingwood HS Mustangs Earn Titles at Texas A&M Cross Country Invitational

19095.1The Kingwood High School varsity cross country teams traveled to College Station on Saturday for the Texas A&M Invitational.  The meet was hosted by Texas A&M at the new Dale Watts Cross Country course and featured college and high school divisions.

In the 5K boys high school race, Mustang senior Harry Bellow finished strong, outrunning Devin Fahey of Houston Stratford down the stretch to earn the individual title in 15:04.  In the team scoring, Seven Lakes was first (93 points) followed by Kingwood (118), Houston Stratford (128), and eighteen other teams.  click here for complete story

Cross Country: Cavalier runners start season in front

With top finish at Gator Classic, College Park takes steps to succeed

The College Park boys cross country team picked up where it left off last season, winning their first meet of the season.

1024x1024The Cavaliers won the Gator Swamp Classic in Dickinson without their top runners.

“I was excited for them,” coach Mike Gibson said.

“Any time you can go to a meet and win that’s neat. Regardless of the level you’re at it’s a great experience to go to a meet and win, and for those guys to do that right out of the gate was great.”

The Cavs tied Kingwood, so they went to their sixth-place runners to break the tie, and theirs was higher. click here for complete story

Cross Country: College Park Wins Swamp Classic
