Basketball: DeAndre Jordan’s high school jersey retired in Kingwood

aaaLos Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan had his high school basketball jersey retired at Christian Life Center Academy in Kingwood on Thursday.

Jordan was accompanied by Clippers teammates when his No. 12 jersey, which commemorated his high school, college, professional and Olympic career, was retired. He played his senior season at Christian Life Center Academy after transferring from Episcopal. Read more…

Boys Basketball: Kingwood Insperity Holiday Classic Tournament Day 1 Roundup

56821dbaa464c.imageOvertime thrillers, buzzer-beating victories and dominating performances; the opening day of the Kingwood Insperity Holiday Classic had it all.

For a lot of the teams participating in the annual tournament, this two-day marathon of games marks the final tune-up for many before diving into the heart of their respective district schedules.

Wrestling: Oak Ridge takes Conroe tourney

Oak Ridge wrestling coach Mike Morgan likes the direction of his program heading toward the Christmas break.

The War Eagles’ boys team won the Conroe Dual Invitational on Saturday, sweeping its four matches against Summer Creek, Kingwood, Klein Forest and Jersey Village. Jersey Village was second among boys teams and Klein Forest finished third. The Jersey Village girls took first place by winning all four of their matches, followed by Oak Ridge, which went 3-1 for second place, and Conroe, which also finished 3-1 and took third. click here for complete story

Cross Country: Kingwood places second at Nike NXN South Regional

5653d2a243279.imageThe UIL Cross Country state meet two weeks back ended in disappointment for the Kingwood Lady Mustangs.

But they redeemed themselves Saturday morning at the Nike NXN South Regional Meet with spots on the line for the Nike National Championship on Dec. 5 in Portland, Ore.

With similar muddy conditions at Bear Branch Park like at Round Rock Old Settlers Park back in the state meet, the Lady Mustangs qualified for nationals as team with a second place finish while senior Abby Guidry medaled with a third place finish. click here for complete story

Aquatics: Kingwood turns in good showing at TISCA Gulf Championships

Kingwood High Swimming and Diving had a great showing at the TISCA Gulf Championships at the Conroe ISD Natatorium on November 20-21.  Both boys and girls teams finished third overall. click here for complete story

Volleyball: Lady Cavs defeat district opponent Kingwood 3-0

cp_vball_teamAfter falling to district opponent Summer Creek in four sets last week, the College Park Volleyball Team regrouped on Tuesday, September 29, and defeated Kingwood in three sets. Outside hitter Kennedi Smith was back in the game after being absent last week due to a knee injury, and the Lady Cavs were able to rally together to pull off a win. click here for complete story
