Lake Conroe-area resident crowned Miss International 2015

Miss Texas International, Elise Banks, 27, of Houston, (and a native of the Lake Conroe area) was crowned Miss International 2015 Aug. 1 at the Annual Miss International Pageant held in Jacksonville, Fla.

Miss Texas International, Elise Banks, 27, of Houston, was crowned Miss International 2015, Aug. 1 at the Annual Miss International Pageant held in Jacksonville, Fla. The three-hour event, held at the Moran Theater at the Times Union Center for Performing Arts, featured 40 contestants from around the world competing in four categories, including interview, fitness-wear, fun fashion and evening gown.

A committed community volunteer, Banks will serve as an ambassador for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to promote mental health and emotionally stability. Banks is a counseling therapist in private practice whose “Healthy Mind – Successful Life” initiative works with children, adolescents and adults to promote making positive changes in their lives and to educate them about professional resources available to address mental health issues. click here for complete story

 

Dive team recovers body of 67-year-old male from Lake Conroe

A Montgomery County dive team with Precinct 1 retrieved the deceased body of a 67-year-old male County resident from Lake Conroe at approximately 4:21 p.m. on Wednesday.

newsA boater, upon returning their boat to the boat ramp at Walden on Lake Conroe, noticed an unmanned, running vehicle and a disabled boat floating approximately 200 yards away and notified the police at approximately 11:20 a.m., according to Lt. Tim Cade of the Marine Division. Although the case is still under investigation, Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack said it appears that the deceased was trying to hook up the boat to the vehicle when the incident occurred. click here for complete story

Lake Conroe boating incident required one being rescued, another still missing

Constable_Pct_1Another accident has occurred on Lake Conroe early this Labor Day evening, at approximately 5:30 p.m. The incident occurred in the vicinity of the April Sound boat ramp where one man was rescued and another is still missing and presumed drowned.

Lt. Timothy Cade of the Constables Precinct 1 Marine Division, reported that a 25-year old male was rescued and transported to a local hospital. The search for second male continued until 8:30 p.m., but was called off due to darkness, and would resume Tuesday morning at dawn. Montgomery County EMS was dispatched to the scene, and another rescue boat assisted with the search. click here for complete story

Head, neck trauma led to Lake Conroe drowning

53bcb9ce604f3.imageThe official cause of death of 21-year-old Elliot Richoux has been ruled as a drowning, exasperated by severe head and neck trauma from diving into roughly 5 feet of water on Lake Conroe Friday, according to Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack.

Witnesses told authorities that Richoux dove into the lake, but they eventually lost sight of him. The witnesses described Richoux as a very good swimmer and, momentarily, they thought he was joking around by not emerging from the water. When the witnesses started calling for him, it became clear they could not find him.

A toxicology report to determine whether alcohol or drugs could have played a role in the drowning are not expected to be completed for another four to six weeks.

Richoux, a baseball standout at The Woodlands High School and 2011 graduate, was with a group of friends and family visiting his mother at the Walden subdivision on Lake Conroe. click HERE for complete story
