Cross Country: Kingwood places second at Nike NXN South Regional

5653d2a243279.imageThe UIL Cross Country state meet two weeks back ended in disappointment for the Kingwood Lady Mustangs.

But they redeemed themselves Saturday morning at the Nike NXN South Regional Meet with spots on the line for the Nike National Championship on Dec. 5 in Portland, Ore.

With similar muddy conditions at Bear Branch Park like at Round Rock Old Settlers Park back in the state meet, the Lady Mustangs qualified for nationals as team with a second place finish while senior Abby Guidry medaled with a third place finish. click here for complete story

Cross Country: Kingwood Mustangs kickoff 2015 season at Watermelon Run

The Kingwood High School cross country teams got the 2015 season started on Friday with the Watermelon Run, their annual intrasquad meet.

The veteran Mustang girls team returns five of seven athletes from the 2014 team that placed third at the UIL 6A state meet. click here for complete story

 

Track & Field: Kingwood HS Mustang Boys Track Team Wins Region II Championship

The Kingwood High School Track and Field teams competed in the UIL Region II 6A Track and Field Championships at Baylor University on Friday and Saturday.  The defending state champion boys team took home the regional title with 55 points followed by The Woodlands (51) and Atascocita (42).

The girls team took home fourth place with 32 points behind Killeen Harker Heights (68), The Woodlands (56), and Dekaney (48).  While participants in the regional meet advance as individuals, team scores are calculated.  Forty-one schools had athletes score in the boys meet, and thirty-five in the girls meet.  The top two finishers in each event advance to the state meet. click here for complete story

Both the boys and girls Kingwood Mustangs track and field teams took home the team title in the 13 team field at the Humble ISD Sam Mosley Relays Saturday at Turner Stadium. Kingwood, Kingwood Park, Atascocita, Humble, Summer Creek, Cy Springs, Stratford, Jersey Village, Beaumont Ozen, Magnolia West, Dayton, MacArthur and Langham Creek participated. click here for complete story

Cross Country: Kingwood girls win McNeil Invitational

5431d6b01414e.imageThe Kingwood girls cross country team traveled to Round Rock on Saturday to compete in the McNeil Invitational at Old Settlers Park, site of the state meet in November.

Facing a tough field that featured five of the twelve teams that competed at the 2013 5A state meet, the Mustangs scored 96 points to take the team title in the gold division over Smithson Valley (141), Lewisville Hebron (166), Katy (212), and 27 other teams. click here for complete story
