Before any feast was served, more than 5,000 people woke up on Thursday morning to participate in the 26th annual GE Run Thru The Woods, starting and ending outside the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
Directed by the South Montgomery County Family YMCA, Run Thru The Woods has become a Thanksgiving Day tradition for runners and residents of all ages.
“It just connects the community,” South Montgomery County Family YMCA Community Liaison Director Roxanne Davis said. “This is all about a day of giving thanks, celebrating. The South Montgomery County YMCA serves the entire South County area, so it just makes sense to bring all of us together.”
The morning kicked off with a one mile children’s race, follow by the start of the five mile run. There was also a three mile run and a three mile walk for participants to choose from. click here for complete story
