RV park at long-delayed Grand Texas now open

The first facility at the future Grand Texas Sports and Entertainment District in New Caney is finally open. Grand Texas RV Resort hosted its first guests last weekend, roughly a year after construction began on that portion of the development, according to Grand Texas’ official newsletter. A grand opening for the RV Resort will be announced in the coming weeks. click here for complete story

Oklahoma baseball: Sooners power past Texas in series opener

He also didn’t allow a walk on the night. The performance lowered Andritsos’ ERA to 2.65 and gave him his fourth win of the season. click here for complete story

Volleyball: Kingwood downed by The Woodlands, 3-2

On Friday, the Kingwood Lady Mustangs hosted The Woodlands Lady Highlanders in an important District 16-6A match up.

Kingwood started the evening strong, winning the first set 25-23. However, in the following two sets, The Woodlands prevailed 25-21 and 25-23, taking the 2-1 lead.

The Lady Mustangs fought back to win the fourth set 25-23. Unfortunately, the Lady Stangs fell short in the fifth and deciding set, losing by a score of 15-8. click here for complete story

Volleyball: Lady War Eagles win district match against Conroe

The Oak Ridge High School Volleyball Team traveled to Conroe on Tuesday to take on the Tigerettes for a district match. The Lady War Eagles went on to defeat Conroe in three sets: 25-15, 15-18, 25-16.

DSC_0287_ORHSIn set one, Conroe took a 3-2 lead over Oak Ridge after a kill from sophomore Neena Brenson. However, the Lady War Eagles quickly took over the set, as an ace from Brooke Clark and kills from Carly Graham, Hannah Mikelonis, Hailey Lohnes and Clark puts the team back ahead14-8. Conroe tried to rally back with kills from Jozey Rodel and Brenson, and great defense from Jznae Kim, Rodel, and Hadley Ransom, but Oak Ridge could not be stopped. After some Conroe errors and kills from Oak Ridge’s Molly Russell and Lohnes, the Lady War Eagles won the first set, 25-15, after Graham sets up a kill for Clark. click here for complete story

Death Announced of Marmaduke’s Master and Adopted Texan Brad Anderson

MarmadukeNationalCartoonistTwitterBrad Anderson, creator of comics page icon Marmaduke, died August 30, 2015, at CHI St. Luke’s Health – The Woodlands Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas. He was 91 years old.

Anderson created Marmaduke in 1954. Later joined by his son, Paul Anderson, the duo delighted comics readers with the daily antics and adventures of Marmaduke, the stubborn but lovable Great Dane with a heart the size of Texas. Football: Pearland’s strong second half shuts down College Park

55dfd9be9fa03.image_The College Park Cavaliers wanted to come out of the gate throwing haymakers against the always dangerous Pearland Oilers. And when the Cavaliers returned the opening kickoff down to Pearland’s 28-yard-line, it look like College Park was poised and ready to attempt the upset.

Then College Park coughed up two fumbles on their first two plays, only to be saved by an offsides flag on the first and their defense holding after losing the second. click  here for complete story

Volleyball: Oak Ridge wins all three matches in day one of Magnolia Volley-Battle

ORtourneyStoryAlthough an early start to the day, The Oak Ridge Lady War Eaglesbrought the heat for Magnolia High School’s “Volley-Battle” Tournament. Winning all three matches, each in just two sets, the Lady War Eagles were unstoppable.

For their first match, the Lady War Eagles took on the Klein Collins Lady Tigers. Oak Ridge looked strong in the first set, and were soon up over the Lady Tigers by 4 points, leading 9-5. After kills from Oak Ridge’s Rhyan Johnson and Hannah Mikelonis, the Lady War Eagles increased their lead 20-14 before Klein Collins called a timeout to regroup. Klein Collins comes back with kills from Kianna Crow and Karlie Greene, bringing the score to 23-19. However, that didn’t stop the Lady War Eagles’ stride as they took the first set 25-19. click here for complete story
