Girls Soccer: Late goal propels Round Rock past The Woodlands

COLLEGE STATION — Sometimes, the ball just doesn’t bounce the right way.

That was the case for The Woodlands on Friday night as it lost to Round Rock 1-0 in a Region II-6A area playoff match at A&M Consolidated’s Tiger Stadium.

With just more than eight minutes remaining in regulation, Round Rock junior Rina Valeriano found the back of the net for the deciding tally. That’s all it took to keep the Lady Highlanders from advancing past the second round for the fifth straight season.

Girls Soccer: The Woodlands Blank Summer Creek 8-0

The Woodlands Girls Soccer Team earned an 8-0 shutout against Summer Creek at Woodforest Bank Stadium improving to 10-0-1 in district play.

Sarah Piper, Mollie Bond, and Jazzy Richards each scored twice, while Katie Krotee and Katie McCullough each added a goal. Piper, Bond, and Krotee each scored in the first half to give The Woodlands a 3-0 lead at halftime.

The Woodlands will play Kingwood (11-0) for the 2016 District 16-6A Title Friday at 6pm
