Baseball: Drabek looking for return to glory with Goldschmidt

On Monday, the Arizona Diamondbacks signed former first-round pick and right-handed pitcher Kyle Drabek to a minor league contract. That news didn’t stop any presses, nor did it shake up the baseball world–nor should it have. But it was pretty cool nonetheless.

He cuts an imposing figure at the plate, and his swing is compact, powerful. Very little wasted energy.

That’s Paul Goldschmidt in a nutshell. The personable guy they call ‘Goldy,’ in Montgomery County, Houston and all the way over to Phoenix.

And that’s what Houston Astros fans are seeing this weekend at Minute Maid Park, as the AL West-leading Astros play host to Goldschmidt and the Diamondbacks.
