Softball: Klein Oak eliminates Lady Highlanders from Class 6A playoffs

5724283e1248d.imageAll season long, the Klein Oak Lady Panthers have proven to be a team that can hit the ball hard and hit the ball often. The bats disappeared on Thursday night with just one hit to open the UIL Region II-6A bi-district series with The Woodlands.

They were back in full force Friday night. The Lady Panthers used 25 hits to eliminate The Woodlands 9-3 in Game 2 and 8-3 in Game 3 at Tomball High School. click here for complete story

Softball: Langkamp, Borstmayer lead The Woodlands to Game 1 win

Champs-Logo-2016-19Against the hot-hitting, undefeated champions of District 15-6A, The Woodlands had a neutralizer in the circle Thursday evening.

Junior Emily Langkamp held the Klein Oak Lady Panthers hitless through 4 1/3 innings, and then helped herself with an insurance run on a solo homer in the top of the sixth as the Lady Highlanders won Game 1 of the Region II-6A bi-district series 3-0 at Tomball High School. click here for complete story

Softball: Woodlands area teams start strong in the state playoffs

Two Woodlands high school softball teams started their quest for a state championship Thursday night. The district 16-6A third seed Oak Ridge Lady War Eagles (18-11-2) played the Montgomery Lady Bears (19-6) and the fourth seed The Woodlands Lady Highlanders (21-9) faced the Klein Oak Lady Panthers (21-7). click here for complete story

Softball: The Woodlands returns to the field, takes step toward normalcy

The scene resembled any other home game.

A warm, gentle breeze whipped through the United States and Texas flags hoisted high above Highlander Field. A setting sun illuminated the state banners hung prominently from the center-field wall. The 1977 rock and roll hit “Black Betty” by Ram Jam blasted through the speakers behind home plate as The Woodlands softball team prepared to take on Kingwood. click here for completer story


The Woodlands softball gets back to normalcy

It was sunny for the first time all week in The Woodlands.

Not a rain cloud was in sight Friday as fans filed into the high school softball stadium to see the Lady Highlanders back in action against Kingwood. The pregame music blared loudly. The Woodlands softball players even wore a few smiles during warm-ups. click here for complete story

Softball: Langkamp leads TWHS past Atascocita

The Woodlands Lady Highlanders picked up a crucial District 16-6A win Tuesday night as it defeated Atascocita 3-0 at home.

Softball: Starkweather steps into bigger role in senior year

56fd763b4f665.imageIf there is one thing The Woodlands’ softball team has plenty of this year, it’s youth. With one third of the team made up of underclassmen and half of the roster made up of juniors, seniors are a bit of a minority in the dugout.

Leah Starkweather is just one of the two seniors on The Woodlands’ roster and the only senior regularly in the starting lineup. click here for complete story
